Cato School of Education
The Wayland H. Cato, Jr. School of Education at Queens University of Charlotte became a separate unit of the University in May, 2008. The founding dean, Dr. Darrel Miller, cites the strong history of education at the university, as well as the mission of the new school to help provide excellent educators for our region's schools as the key reasons behind establishing the new school.
The mission of the Wayland H. Cato, Jr. School of Education is to prepare culturally responsive educators who are leaders, experts in their fields, and facilitators of learning for all students in a "community of respect." This is consistent with and contributes to the mission of Queens.
